Summer Tires - Hot Topic
Summer Tires - Hot Topic
Days, weeks, months, seasons... cyclicality. A similar pattern is observed every spring when winter jackets and coats disappear in the corners of the wardrobe. Wondering what this has to do with summer tires? A lot, because in spring, the temperature rises enough for winter tires to lose their greatest advantages. So, it's the right time to change your tires. Summer tires fit perfectly into the schedule of a conscious driver. Like you!
New Summer Tires, Safety as a Priority
New Summer Tires, Safety as a Priority
Division into seasonal tires is not a matter of chance.

It is a necessity related to the broader development of the automotive industry, with an emphasis on safety. The tread of winter tires was created with specific conditions in mind. What works great in snow, ice, or post-snow mud will not provide proper control on dry or wet asphalt. Especially at higher temperatures.

New summer tires mean shorter braking distances (by several percent compared to winter tires) on dry and wet surfaces. It also means better precision in corners and an appropriate margin of safety on straight roads. What makes the difference? In addition to the rubber compound and tread pattern, stiffness plays a significant role. Much greater in new summer tires.

Acoustic Comfort
Acoustic Comfort
The noise emitted by tires can drown out almost everything, diminishing the joy of driving. Neutralizing tire noise with louder music? We know a better way! They are much quieter than winter tires. So, if acoustic comfort is a priority for you, pay attention to this parameter – relevant information can be found on the label. The level of noise emitted by the tires is influenced by: the composition of the rubber, size, tread pattern, and tread direction, as well as pressure. You probably know that the intensity of unpleasant sounds increases with speed. Remember that the scale of loudness measured in decibels (dB) is logarithmic.
In simpler terms – every additional 3 dB emitted by the tires is perceived as twice the noise.
Low Rolling Resistance
High fuel prices encourage finding ways to reduce expenses at the pump.

In the long run, you can save a lot by buying new summer tires with a low rolling resistance coefficient. Importantly, leading manufacturers such as: Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, or Continental – offer a wide range of summer tires that are not only energy-efficient but also ensure a high level of safety regardless of conditions.

In our store, you will also find noteworthy energy-efficient tires in the medium segment, which are safe, quiet, and durable. Summer tires – Kleber, Hankook, Nexen, Uniroyal , or Kumho – if they surprise you in any way, it will be only positively.

Or maybe you're wondering if you can buy energy-efficient budget tires from us... Of course! Options include brands such as: Dębica, Kormoran, Apollo, Barum, or Sava. The decision regarding the manufacturer and model is left to you.

When to Change to Summer Tires?
When to Change to Summer Tires?
There are two factors that indicate when to change from winter tires to summer tires. The first is the calendar – spring is a good time to order new summer tires and schedule an appointment with a tire service. We recommend workshops collaborating with us – the most convenient option is buying tires at Inter Cars with pickup and installation at the service. You can also consider the thermometer as an indicator, showing the right time to change tires. When the average daily temperature reaches 7°C, it's high time to say goodbye to winter tires. The compound used in them not only performs worse at higher temperatures but also wears out almost at an express rate.
Even the best summer tires wear out. A banality, but worth reminding, because it's about your safety. In theory, the minimum tread depth is 1.6 mm. In practice, it looks different. The mentioned 1.6 mm is almost slick. Almost bald tires will grip well on dry asphalt, but even light rain will make driving torture. Therefore, we recommend more common sense. Treat 3-4 mm as the limit. If you suspect that the tread is approaching this value, check and order new summer tires as soon as possible. With installation – it will be the most convenient!

Rubber hardens with age, invisible cracks appear... They are harmed by UV rays, temperature fluctuations, and the oxygen in the air and in the tire. If you cover several thousand kilometers annually, replace the tires after a maximum of 7-8 years, even if the tread is 4-5 mm. This is for your safety and comfort. Modern models are more technologically advanced than older ones. By ordering new tires with installation, you gain twice.

A fun fact – according to current law, tires up to 3 years old can be sold as new. Buying 2 or 3-year-old ones is an interesting option. Recommended for those who drive little and don't want to take unnecessary risks, like mounting used tires.

Where to Find and How to Decipher the Tire Production Date?
Where to Find and How to Decipher the Tire Production Date?
It's simple. Just look at the DOT code consisting of four digits. You will find it on the side. The first two indicate the production week, the next ones the year. So, 0720 indicates that the tire was produced in the 7th week of 2020, around mid-February. The infographic shows where to find the DOT code.
