Dębica – Polish Tyres with a Rich History
The Dębica tyre factory, located in the Podkarpackie region, was established as part of the development of the Central Industrial District. Construction began in 1937, and production of tyres, developed in cooperation with the American company General Tire, started in 1939. This progress was interrupted by the outbreak of war, and the factory's equipment was transported out of the country. Fortunately, the machinery was recovered, and production resumed in the late 1940s and early 1950s. From 1949, along with other rubber industry facilities in Poland, Dębica manufactured products under the Stomil brand.
The factory expanded and by the 1960s became one of the largest in the country. A key milestone was the introduction of radial tyres in 1976, under the name Stomil D-124. Developed under licence from the American company Uniroyal, the tyre was marketed internationally as the Rally R180. The D-124 quickly gained an excellent reputation among Polish drivers, who were previously accustomed to diagonal tyres.
Dębica products became a symbol of industrial progress in Poland during the 1970s. However, the economic crises of the 1980s and the political transformations of the 1990s slowed the factory's development. In 1991, Dębica S.A. was established, and four years later, the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, one of the world's largest tyre manufacturers, became the majority shareholder.
By 2008, Goodyear owned over 65% of Dębica. Despite this, the historic name of the factory was retained, and Dębica tyres continue to be marketed as a budget brand within the Goodyear group. These tyres are available not only in Poland but also across Central Europe. Today, Dębica is Poland's second-largest tyre manufacturer, following Michelin's Olsztyn factory (formerly Stomil).
Dębica Tyres for Your Vehicle
Dębica tyres are designed primarily for city cars and mid-range vehicles. Since 2012, the brand has also offered high-performance (HP) tyres with a speed index of V (up to 240 km/h). More recently, the range has expanded to include HP2 tyres (speed index W – 270 km/h) and UHP (Ultra High Performance) tyres (speed index Y – 300 km/h).
The brand focuses on tyres for passenger cars, including SUVs. Notably, Dębica tyres are particularly suited for older vehicles, where owners may not wish to invest in premium-priced options. The range includes summer, winter, and all-season tyres, available in sizes from 12 to 18 inches in diameter, with a wide selection of widths and profiles. This ensures that almost any driver can find a suitable tyre for their vehicle within the Dębica portfolio.
Dębica Tyres – Global Quality at a Polish Price
Thanks to investment from its American majority owner and access to technology and expertise developed by the Goodyear group, Dębica products offer an excellent balance of quality and affordability. Polish engineers collaborate with specialists from other brands within the Goodyear family, such as Dunlop, Fulda, and Sava, enabling the development of high-quality tyres at relatively low costs. This ensures that Dębica tyres remain accessible to a wide range of drivers.
Dębica products are still manufactured in Poland, where they are also designed and tested. This local production ensures that the tyres are well-suited to the conditions on Polish roads, which often feature less-than-ideal surfaces compared to Western Europe. Additionally, Dębica tyres are designed to handle the challenging weather conditions in Poland, including wide temperature fluctuations and significant rainfall and snowfall.
As a key pillar of the local economy in the Podkarpackie region, Dębica plays an important role in Poland's industrial landscape. Supporting local production is a meaningful way to contribute to the national economy. Visit our IC24.UK website to explore a wide selection of Dębica tyres for your vehicle.
