The story of Trico began on a rainy night in 1917 in Buffalo, USA, when John R. Oishei hit a cyclist with his automobile. The incident profoundly affected him, prompting him to create a solution for poor visibility during rain. Soon after, the company he founded became the first in the world to mass-produce automotive windshield wiper blades. Over time, the product range expanded to include additional models and automatic wiper motors.

In 1928, with the opening of a production facility in the United Kingdom, Trico began its international expansion. High-quality and innovative wipers gained recognition among automobile manufacturers worldwide. In the late 1930s, Trico was also one of the first companies to develop windshield washer systems. Post-war advancements in technology enabled Trico to further enhance its products, which continued to earn the trust of automotive manufacturers. Trico's windshield cleaning systems became original equipment in many American car models.

Today, motors, wiper arms, blades, and washers produced in Trico's eight manufacturing facilities are sold on independent aftermarket channels in over 50 countries. Additionally, Trico components are original equipment in passenger and commercial vehicles from many leading brands, including Ford, Opel, Volkswagen, and Toyota.
