Fuel filters

A fuel filter is a device that removes impurities from fuel before it enters the engine of a vehicle: 

• Function

A fuel filter's job is to protect the engine from harmful particles like dirt, rust, and debris that can cause wear and tear. It ensures that the fuel entering the engine is clean so that the engine can run efficiently.

• Location

A fuel filter is usually found in the fuel line in the engine compartment but can also be located in other locations in the fuel feed of a vehicle..

• Construction

A fuel filter is made of a pleated paper element inside a metal or plastic casing. The paper element traps particles that are larger than the filter's pores.

• Maintenance

Fuel filters should be checked and replaced regularly according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

• Other tips

To prevent microbial growth in diesel fuel, you can add biocides to the fuel. You can also clean the fuel tank periodically to remove sediments that could enter the filter.
